KNOCK KNOCK! Who's there?

An e-book created to support parents of newborns with DS in their new situation. Written by a neuro-speech therapist, it draws the parents attention on what they can do to stimulate the developed of their babies in first days on their life. This initial period is often decisive in the development of oral functions, such as eating and speaking. Enriched with practical tips and beautiful illustrations - it provides valuable help for parents to get used to the new situation.

#knowledge #awareness #TheRightToEarlyIntervention The awareness of the importance of early speech therapy interventions is low in Poland. Even among medical staff and midwives. Often, after giving birth, parents do not receive any instructions or information at the hospital on how to improve their child's oral functions. It is sad because the quality of these functions determines the development of their baby's feeding and speech - in both of these areas, we see difficulties in older children and adults with Down's syndrome. Early stimulation makes it possible to reduce the visible abnormalities, which could allow people with Down Syndrome to function more successfully in the society.
