Project Development Story
Over the course of two years, our network met across Europe to co-create the European Self-Advocates curriculum. The first meetings took place in Budapest (Hungary) — hosted by Rejtett Kincsek Down Egyesület — and in Marseille (France) — hosted by TCAP21 (Trisomie 21 France) — where partners worked together to design the lessons and develop the teaching methodology.
A third meeting was held in Madrid (Spain), hosted by Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, where self-advocate teaching pairs received their training before returning to their home countries to pilot the four lessons. In total, around 130 self-advocates took part in the trainings across Europe, helping to refine the activities and materials.
Finally, in Brussels in 2025, all partners and self-advocates reunited to share results, reflect on their national experiences, and improve the final version of the programme.
These lessons are the result of this shared effort — written, tested, and refined together by self-advocates, educators, and organisations across Europe.
